With more than 35 years in public education, Joseph H. Clapper, D.Ed. has served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles including that of teacher, principal, professor, assistant superintendent and ten years as a superintendent of schools.  This continuum of experience has provided him with a unique, comprehensive understanding of teacher supervision/evaluationschool budgets, curriculum, assessment, professional development, strategic planning and personnelmanagement.

 

Considered a leader among his superintendent peers, Dr. Clapper was an active member of the Western Pennsylvania Forum for Superintendents ~ a select group of superintendents from the Ohio Line to Harrisburg.  Dr. Clapper has been invited to make numerous presentations at local, state and national conferences on the topics of teacher supervision and evaluation, professional development, school leadership, and advocacy for public school education.  He has also had numerous articles published in educational journals and magazines on the same topics.

 

Dr. Clapper completed his undergraduate and master degrees at Shippensburg University and his doctorate in curriculum and instruction at The Pennsylvania State University.  He has served as both an undergraduate and graduate instruction for Penn State.

 

Dr. Clapper is a highly capable educational leader ~ truly passionate about providing inspirational leadership for 21st century public schools.  He is noted for creative problem solving, organizational skills, building collaboration, personnel management including identifying talents in others, effective communication skills, and his pleasant sense of humor.  

 

Dr. Clapper’s wife, Christy, is a retired school counselor.  >span class="s6">daughter, Laura, is a professional flutist and music professor.
