Dear BEA Community:I wanted to give you an update on where we are regarding Covid cases and what we are now required to do by the state.
Since Thanksgiving, we had two new cases, one a high school student and one a staff member who works at multiple buildings. We have notified those individuals and parents who need to quarantine.
Some of you may have heard about the state requiring Superintendents and Board Presidents to sign an Attestation form if their district plans to continue in-person instruction when possible. That form was signed and sent to the state prior to Thanksgiving giving us the ability to continue in-person instruction. However, the state has now set limits and parameters of when a school must close based on the number of cases and the size of the school.
I have a meeting with the administrative team Wednesday to discuss this in detail and will be discussing it with the Board at our meeting Thursday night.
Currently, we are still planning to open schools for in-person instruction on December 7, however, that may change depending on the number of new cases we get this week. I will continue to keep you informed and updated as events warrant. I will let you know on Friday, December 4 if we are planning to reopen on the 7th.
Sincerely,
Scott V. Graham
Superintendent
