Bald Eagle Area School District Passes 2024-25 Budget: No Tax Increase
The Bald Eagle Area School District Board of Directors unanimously approved the 2024-25
budget with no tax increase for the second year in a row. The $41,733,871 budget represents
an overall increase of 6.89% over the current year’s budget.
The budget includes a transfer of $5 million from the general fund to the capital reserve
that will address various capital projects such as a new roof at Mountaintop Elementary School
as well as a variety of other facility needs including the pending construction project at the high
school for a new forestry building, renovations for special education building, and a fitness
building.
“Aside from the facility projects, the increase in the 2024-25 is very modest. The District has
worked hard at this year’s budget to maintain and build upon our current educational programs
without a local tax increase,” said Colette Tanner, BEA Business Manager.
The budget does include a sizable increase in state education funding based on Gov. Shapiro’s
budget proposal. “We are delighted that the Governor and members of the General Assembly
are looking to increase the state’s share of public school finance. All too often, the burden has
been placed on local taxpayers. We remain hopeful that our legislators will finish the job they
set out to do by making a considerable downpayment to share the cost of public school
education,” said Dr. Joseph Clapper, interim superintendent.
The 2024-25 budget will be available next week on the school district website.
